Technical delivery and Cloudflare
The public website is delivered as static files through Cloudflare Workers. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, operating a distributed network.
When serving pages, Cloudflare may process IP address, requested URL, time, HTTP method, status and browser information such as User-Agent. This supports delivery, availability and abuse prevention. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, with a legitimate interest in secure and functional delivery.
The website code we deliver contains no analytics beacons, advertising trackers or visitor profiles. Hosting operational and security data are separate. Their scope and retention depend on the services and settings actually used, contractual terms and legal obligations. Zero-day retention is not promised.
Depending on the activity, Cloudflare processes data on behalf of the operator or in its own responsibility. Relevant agreements include an Article 28 GDPR data processing agreement. Processing outside the EU/EEA, particularly in the USA, is possible. Contractual documents describe applicable safeguards, including standard contractual clauses, and subprocessors. Information about relevant safeguards can be requested using the contact above.

Availability, archiving and search engines
According to the operator, Cloudflare Crawler Hints and Always Online are enabled for the existing public domain. Crawler Hints may notify search engines of public page URLs for recrawling. Always Online may share the hostname and popular public page paths with the Internet Archive so that public content can be archived and available during outages. This is distinct from normal delivery.
An editorially triggered IndexNow notification transmits public page URLs and a technical verification key, not search terms, saved lists or Worry Eater input. Notifications do not run when visitors read pages. No URLs are submitted from the local preview. A notification or enabled feature does not guarantee indexing.
Cookies, saved articles and reading preferences
Website code sets no cookies and does not use client-side storage for tracking. If you save articles or change reading preferences, it stores the required values in your browser’s localStorage: selected article URLs under dz-saved, and text size and quiet mode under dz-reading. It creates no accounts or cross-device profiles.
The website does not transmit these local values to us. They remain until entries are removed, preferences reset or browser data cleared; your browser may also remove them. On shared devices, others with access to the same browser profile may see the selection. These values are not encrypted.
Storage serves only the local functions you expressly request. The basis for necessary terminal-device access is Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG. Where personal data is processed, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR applies to providing the requested local functions. Without using these features, no saved list or modified reading preferences need to be stored.
Depending on security settings, Cloudflare may use technically necessary cookies, for example after a security check. Their scope and lifetime depend on the actual configuration. Cloudflare security cookies.
After you close the information notice, your browser stores the time of the last dismissal under dz-information-v2. It appears again on the next page view after 24 hours; ongoing reading is not interrupted. The time stays local and is not sent to us. No identifier is stored for this purpose. Closing the notice is not consent or a waiver of liability. Clearing browser data or blocking storage may cause it to appear sooner. You can reopen it through “Reading preferences”. An old dismissal flag without a time is replaced when you next close the notice.
Search, language and reading progress
Search runs in your browser using index files from this website. Search terms are not sent to us or a search provider. The questions area keeps search terms, topic selection and result page in the part of the address after #. This fragment is not sent to the web server in a normal page request, but may appear in browser history and be included when you copy the full address. Language switching opens the corresponding language page.
Reading progress is calculated only from the current scroll position. It is not stored, linked to a person or transmitted to us.
The Worry Eater
Input stays in the text box in the current tab. Website code does not transmit or store it and makes no copy for the animation. Letting go clears the box immediately. It is also cleared when leaving or restoring the page from back/forward cache. Clouds are decorative only.
No one reads or responds to the input. There is no AI analysis or diary. This feature cannot prevent your device, browser extensions, screen recordings or other software you use from processing data independently.
Images, fonts and external services
Our images, paper texture and program files are served with the website. It uses system fonts, without contacting external font services. No third-party videos, social feeds or maps are embedded. Camera, microphone and location access are not requested.
An external web provider is contacted when you open its link. Such links open in a new tab and use noreferrer so this page’s referrer address is not sent. The destination has its own privacy terms and may process technical connection data.
AI in creation
AI assists editorial, design and technical creation, separately from website operation. Delivered code contains no AI chatbot or AI API calls. It sends neither search terms, Worry Eater input nor reading behaviour to AI providers.
Responsibility for the content remains with the operator. See the legal notice.

Feedback, email, telephone and post
The feedback form does not itself send a message to a server. On your click it can open an email draft with the page address, selected topic and feedback text in your email app. You decide whether to send it. Alternatively, the website creates a local text file to download. It does not persistently store form input. Please do not send personal health information.
If you contact me by email, telephone or post, I process the contact and message data you provide to handle your enquiry. This may include name, email address, telephone number, postal address and message. Recipients may include email, telephone and postal providers used for communication. Website code does not automatically forward messages to AI services.
The basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, with an interest in answering enquiries. Article 6(1)(b) may apply to contractual or requested pre-contractual matters, and Article 6(1)(c) to statutory retention. Contact is voluntary; without required information a reply may be impossible. Data is kept only as needed for the enquiry, legal duties or legal defence and then deleted.
Postal reception in Switzerland

The European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision for Switzerland. Transfers may take place under Article 45 GDPR, subject to other applicable requirements. The postal address alone does not relocate the controller’s habitual residence to Switzerland. Where Swiss data protection law applies, its requirements apply in addition.
Your data protection rights and supervision
Where legal conditions are met, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons related to your particular situation. Consent may be withdrawn for the future. Please use the contact above.
